Tomorrow’s Sustainable Food Chain. Today.

Food ‘waste’ is a high value, low impact food source. We believe everyone should be able to manage it sustainably and benefit financially.
So we’ve built insect-farming technology to make that happen.

Our Values

Making a real impact starts with knowing what you believe and what needs to be done. At Flybox®, our core values drive every design and decision we make.

About
01

Our Mission: To Build 1000 insect farms by 2030.

We discard one-third of the food we produce each year. We call it ‘waste’ but in reality it’s a precious resource. It’s time we recognize this value to build a more efficient, sustainable and profitable food chain.

Better for the Planet—and Better for Business, Too.

Our modular insect farms enable businesses all over the globe to
manage organic waste sustainably—reducing food waste emissions and upcycling nutrients back into the food chain—and profitably, through the use or sale of insect-based products like premium protein that result from the bioconversion process.

Our technology is a game changer for waste-to-value applications, proven to be the most profitable and C02 reducing method of handling food waste streams.

& We Need More and Better Protein For Animal Feed.

We will be 60 million tonnes short of protein/year by 2050. Much of the protein the world produces feeds farm animals. It’s mostly soymeal and fishmeal, and we use 40% of global arable land to make it. With the demand for animal protein predicted to double by 2050, we need more and better protein for animal feed—we need to produce protein within planetary limits. Flybox® modular technology enables businesses and nations everywhere to create protein locally, relying less on expensive, environmentally-damaging imports like soy.

Lian Kariuki, Agri Advisor, Kiambu County, Kenya

"Finding innovative ways to reduce and repurpose waste can help address the environmental impact of food production whilst providing economic benefits across the supply chain. Flybox is at the forefront of this revolution."

David Telford, Head of Agrifood at KTN
"This is a hyper local, circular and low carbon way to address a serious challenge in the animal feed sector"

Flybox Changes Things. Here’s How.

Making an impact is in our DNA. We want to change the world for the better.
Here are our key impacts, and why we’re a big win for nature, farmers, and everyone on our shared planet.

Flybox & the SDGs

How we address the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
2. Zero Hunger
We provide not only nutritious but local protein using a fraction of the resources needed by conventional feeds like soy.
3. Good Health and Well-being
Insect feed has a positive impact on animal welfare, from better coverage to a decreased need for antibiotics.
12. Responsible Consumption and Production
Upcycling organic wastes means we prevent it from going to  landfill.
13. Climate Action
Our process mitigates food waste emissions and produces carbon neutral insect protein.
14. Life Below Water
Insect protein eases pressure on global fish stocks by displacing fishmeal in animal feed.
